AstBill Translations - We Need Help

By london3 at Sun, 2005-11-13 13:09 | AstBill Multi language support - Translations

This is the AstBill translator's forum. It will cover most aspects of translating AstBill's user interface. We will also cover the use of the various programs that can be used to do a translation.

AstBill is comming with an extended locale.module that enables you to share translations through the use of PO files. PO files are files containing translations as used by the GNU gettext program.

User contributed PO files for various languages can be found on the Drupal download page http://drupal.org/project/Translations.

You should translate the individual PO files (per module) rather than one big file. The individual files are automatically packaged into one large file per language in the CVS repository, which is what others will download from this site.

Once you have completed a reasonable part of the translation, email us your PO files. Some helpful developer will then come by and put them on this site for you.

There is a lot of information about translating Drupal her: http://drupal.org/node/11130

We really need help with this so if you have any experience with this please come back and share with us.

Is there anybody that can read the manuals and come up with a reasonable working framework for AstBill translations.

problems with translation

By Newton on Wed, 2005-11-16 22:55

Hi!
I can translate your software to Polish, but I have some problem. When I export strings into .po file, there is not all strings. I have only text from the menu (Incoming Number, Numbers Dialed, etc.). The modules for Astbill are in the /modules/astbill directory - maybe this is a problem?

Best regards.
Tomasz "Newton" Rekawek

Ps. I promise that my Polish is better than my English ;).

I found the answer: t()

By Newton on Tue, 2005-11-22 15:32

I found the answer: t() function isn't used in all strings. Eg. "Category:" in astcontact

When I will be translating that software, I try to note all places, where that function is omitted.

Best regards,
Tomasz
